The sale of Kentucky Speedway to Speedway Motorsports Inc. is on track to be completed this fall. SMI announced Thursday that it will proceed with its acquisition of the 1.5-mile tri-oval located in northern Kentucky about halfway between Louisville and Cincinnati. The two sides reached an agreement in May, and SMI completed a 90-day review earlier this month.

Phil Hill, the only American-born Formula One champion, died Thursday of complications from Parkinson's disease. He was 81. Joe Gibbs Racing has selected 18-year-old Joe Logano to replace Tony Stewart in the No. 20 Sprint Cup Toyota next season. Logano was introduced Monday at the team's race shop, less than two months after he made his debut in the Nationwide Series. Home Depot will remain the primary sponsor of the car, and Greg Zipadelli will continue as crew chief. Logano became the youngest winner on NASCAR's second-tier series in June. Read More
